Desveladas!

Mi esposo tambien estaba despierto y teniamos mucho sueño. Justin alfin se habia quedado dormido!  Cerre mis ojos y empeze a dormir....CUANDO quien mas aparece en mi cuarto si es mi alarma de las 7am  la "Princesa Fiona" y me dice "Good Moning Mami"  sequido por "I wan some sheereal".  hahaha Bueno alli quedaron mis deseos y esperanzas de poder descansar un poco!
Asi que decidi Levantarme y ver que podia hacer!......

A long Saturday.....

Well we took Justin to the Dr's and he said it might just be a stomach virus....but I should keep an eye on him just in case(maybe appendicitis).  So he has an appointment to go back on saturday, and drink lots of apple juice and gatorade!....Thankgoodness for my mom.  I can always count on her, she came over this morning and cooked breakfast for us!  She made some  salvadorean enpanadas!!!!! And some Hot Chocolate!

Sleepless Nights!

So I was awakened by Justin coughing @ about 2:45 am, but I thought it was nothing.  So I waited for while to see if I heard him complain or anything.  I didn't hear anything but I noticed that the Bedroom light was on, so I decided to go and check on him.
I almost died when I saw him sitting at the Dinning room table, I wasn't expecting him there. lol Poor baby he was upset cuz he had thrown up on the floor.  And with his little puppy eyes he looked at me and said " Mommy I couldn't make it to the bathroom".  It was then I noticed that he had tried to clean it up with some of the clothes from the dirty laundry pile....:0) I took him by his hand and off we went to bed.  He said he was feeling better and his tummy didn't hurt anymore.  SO I thought, GREAT no big deal maybe it was just from the cough.  So I went back to my bed and decided to sleep a lil' more.  It must have taken no more than 15 minutes when I heard the noise again!  Poor Justin was throwing up again!  I could hear him gagging and coughing, and all I thought was....Maybe it wasn't as insignificant as I thought!....Well let's just say that I spent all night going from my bed to his every 15 to 20 minutes.  Poor Justin tried to sleep but every time he began to doze off he would wake up gaging and throwing up every where.  He couldn't hold anything down.  And every now and then he would complain of being thirsty.  My poor Husband and I finally gave up on the Idea of sleeping at about 6 a.m. Justing had finally been able to sleep for more  than 15 minutes, so we decided to sleep a lil longer.

But of course I had forgotten that "Princess Fiona" likes to wake up at around 7 am , and sure enough she walks into my room and climbs into bed and says "good moning mami"  LOL.....Next words out of her m outh were " I Hungy"....I want sheereal wit milk" ......soooo i was forced to wake up and forget about any possibility of getting sleep!

LDS.org - Mormon Messages
h

Haiti has been on my mind. I have been reading the news about all the needed help being sent to the Haitians in their time of tragedy after the devastating earthquake on 1/12/10.   There is a great need for food, medical equipment and doctors. Hundreds of thousands of people have lost their homes and loved ones. Our lesson today brought this tragedy to mind.

Today I asked my class these questions, "What could be the Lord's purposes in allowing this to happen?"  "What good have we seen, or could we possibly see, come out of this tragedy?"

A few things we discussed: The Lord humbles us through trials like these.  When we are humbled our hearts are opened/softened, and we are more receptive to the Spirit.  True service brings more love into the world.  ThroughHumanitarian Services, the LDS Church collaborates with other organizations to provide "temporal" relief.  Perhaps this may some day open the door for missionaries to assist with "spiritual relief".   Those blessed with an abundance of temporal wealth have an opportunity to open their hearts andshare that wealth with those who are in need of it, thus giving up some worldliness.    Nations are working together in service.

In Alma 14, Alma and Amulek are forced to witness innocent women and children being destroyed by fire. These are people who believed on their words and are being killed because of their belief.  Alma and Amulek are helpless to save them, except for the priesthood power of God which they hold.  Describing Amulek's reaction in Alma 14:10, "And when Amulek saw the pains of the women and children who were consuming in the fire, he also was pained; and he said unto Alma: How can we witness this awful scene? Therefore let us stretch forth our hands, and exercise the power of God which is in us, and save them from the flames."

Unlike the people in Haiti, this tragedy was inflicted upon the believers of Ammonihah by wicked unbelivers. But similarly, there are innocent victims in pain. Through the Spirit, Alma is able to give Amulek a response in verse 11:

"The Spirit constraineth me that I must not stretch forth mine hand; for behold the Lord receiveth them up unto himself, in glory"  Those responsible for this crime will be held accountable, but those innocent believers were promised exaltation.

President Spencer W. Kimball has stated:  “We find many people critical when a righteous person is killed, a young father or mother is taken from a family, or when violent deaths occur. Some become bitter when oft-repeated prayers seem unanswered. Some lose faith and turn sour when solemn administrations by holy men seem to be ignored. ... But if all the sick were healed, if all the righteous were protected and the wicked destroyed, the whole program of the Father would be annulled and the basic principle of the gospel, free agency, would be ended.... Should all prayers be immediately answered according to our selfish desires and our limited understanding, then there would be little or no suffering, sorrow, disappointment, or even death; and if these were not, there would also be an absence of joy, success, resurrection, eternal life, and godhood."

Sometimes we don't see or understand the "big picture". Accounts in the scriptures like this one helps us understand that a loving, just, merciful God is in charge, and that brings me peace in my heart.

Another Wonderful Day!

Today I woke up thinking that it was probably not going to be such a wonderful day!.....But regardless I still said my morning prayer and decided to be positive!  I figured that no matter what I should think that everything weas going to be alright!.....I put a smile on my face and on I went to do my daily duties.
Little did I know that my day would be a great day!  So far it is 10:30 a.m. and I am Happy and enjoying my day!  I have so much to be grateful for, How could I possibly think that today would be so bad?!

You Can Hold On

If ever you are tempted to become discouraged or to lose faith, remember those faithful Saints who remained true in Kirtland. Hold on a little longer. You can do this! You are part of a special generation. You were prepared and
preserved to live at this important time in the existence of our beautiful planet earth. You have a celestial pedigree and therefore have all the necessary talents to make your life an eternal success story. The Lord has blessed you with a testimony of the truth. You have felt His influence and witnessed His power. And if you continue to seek Him, He will continue to grant you sacred experiences. With these and other spiritual gifts, you will be able not only to change your own life for the better but also to bless your homes, wards or branches, communities,
cities, states, and nations with your goodness.  It may be hard to see that at times, but hold on a little longer, for “eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him” and wait for Him (1 Corinthians 2:9; see also D&C 76:10;133:45).

y nación.  Es probable que a veces sea difícil reconocerlo, pero soporta un poco más, porque “ojo no vio, ni oído oyó, ni ha subido al corazón del hombre, son las que Dios ha preparado para aquellos que le aman” y que le esperan (1 Corintios 2:9;

Some of the Book of Mormon scriptures that teach about the fall:

Alma 22:12-14

12 And it came to pass that when Aaron saw that the king would believe his words, he began from the creation of Adam, reading the scriptures unto the king—how God created man after his own image, and that God gave him commandments, and that because of transgression, man had fallen.
13 And Aaron did expound unto him the scriptures from the creation of Adam, laying the fall of man before him, and their carnal state and also the plan of redemption, which was prepared from the foundation of the world, through Christ, for all whosoever would believe on his name.
14 And since man had fallen he could not merit anything of himself; but the sufferings and death of Christ atone for their sins, through faith and repentance, and so forth; and that he breaketh the bands of death, that the grave shall have no victory, and that the sting of death should be swallowed up in the hopes of glory; and Aaron did expound all these things unto the king.

Mosiah 3:19

19 For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever, unless he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, and putteth off the natural man and becometh a saint through the atonement of Christ the Lord, and becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father.

2 Nephi 2:25

Quote of the Day: Ezra Taft Benson

PRES. EZRA TAFT BENSON:

"Just as a man does not really desire food until he is hungry, so he does not desire the salvation of Christ until he knows why he needs Christ.

"No one adequately and properly knows why he needs Christ until he understands and accepts the doctrine of the Fall and its effect upon all mankind. And no other book in the world explains this vital doctrine nearly as well as the Book of Mormon" (in Conference Report, Apr. 1987, 106; or Ensign, May 1987, 85 ).

Sacrifice,...

“Sacrifice is an amazing principle. As we willingly give our time and talents and all that we possess, it becomes one of our truest forms of worship. It can develop within us a profound love for each other and our Savior, Jesus Christ. Through sacrifice our hearts can be changed; we live closer to the Spirit and have less of an appetite for things of the world.” Carol B. Thomas

Fast Sunday,....

Fast Sunday

Throughout the church, we have a practice of observing a fast. This is typically done on the first Sunday of the month. This observance includes not eating or drinking anything for 2 meals, in a 24 hour period. Usually we begin our fast on Saturday night after our evening meal, and end our fast at dinner on Sunday night. During our fast we pray, and through this prayer and fasting we grow spiritually.

Another aspect to our "Fast Sunday" is a testimony meeting at church. We forgo the normal talks that are usually given, and members are given the opportunity during our Sacrament meeting to come to the pulpit and bear their testimonies. Through the bearing of testimonies, all are strengthened, both the one bearing testimony, and the listener.

An important part of our fast is the giving of "fast offerings". Members who participate in the fast contribute the cost of the meals they give up to the Church for distribution to those who are in need. This is usually done in the form of food from the Bishop's storehouse. Pres. Marion G. Romney wrote, "To ancient Israel the Lord put the question:
“Is not this the fast that I have chosen? …

“… to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him? …

“When thou hast done these things],” he added, “Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the Lord shall be thy rereward.

“Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. …

“If thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noonday.” (Isa. 58:6–10.)
Think of these wonderful blessings. They are all promised to those who generously contribute to the care of the poor.

“And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.” (Isa. 58:11.)

I remember that a long time ago, over sixty years in fact, when Elder Melvin J. Ballard (former member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles) laid his hands on my head and set me apart to go on a mission, he said in the blessing he gave me that a person could not give a crust to the Lord without receiving a loaf of bread in return. And that has been my experience." Marion G. Romney, “The Blessing of the Fast,” Tambuli, Dec 1982, 2 By giving of our means to those in need, we are blessed spiritually.
Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin taught, "We observe that in the scriptures, fasting almost always is linked with prayer. Without prayer, fasting is not complete fasting; it’s simply going hungry. If we want our fasting to be more than just going without eating, we must lift our hearts, our minds, and our voices in communion with our Heavenly Father. Fasting, coupled with mighty prayer, is powerful. It can fill our minds with the revelations of the Spirit. It can strengthen us against times of temptation." Joseph B. Wirthlin, “The Law of the Fast,” Ensign, May 2001, 73

I invite you to attend one of our Fast Sunday testimony meetings. Each person bearing testimony speaks according to the feelings that are in them. The spirit is usually in abundance at these meetings. If you feel inclined, you may also want to fast in preparation for attendance. I feel confident that you also will feel the flowing of the spirit on this special day.
